Hines | Archstone-Smith Donate Laptops to D.C. Civic Organizations
Old Convention Center Site Redevelopment Team Shows Commitment to Community
(Washington, D.C.) Howard J. Riker, Vice President of Hines, has announced a donation of computer equipment to local civic organizations that serve the communities around the old Washington Convention Center site. This philanthropic effort is on behalf of Hines | Archstone-Smith, the development team selected by the District of Columbia to master plan and develop the site into a mixed-use project that will include residential, retail, office, civic uses, and public space.
Two brand-new Dell laptops, two printers, associated accessories and tech support were given to each of the following neighborhood associations to use for the betterment of the local community:
-
East Central Civic Association
-
Gibson Plaza Tenant Association
-
Chinatown Steering Committee and Community Cultural Center
-
The COPE Organization
-
Rhode Island Through P Street Neighborhood Association
"We hope that this equipment will help these organizations continue to provide needed services to their neighborhoods," said Riker. "We also look forward to establishing a strong working relationship with these organizations and their constituents in the years ahead, as we proceed with the redevelopment of the Old Convention Center site", he added.
Hines Interests Limited Partnership, Archstone-Smith Operating Trust, and their development partners recognize the importance of community involvement in the design, construction and management of a project of the magnitude of the Old Convention Center Site redevelopment, and have developed a Community Involvement Plan to manage this process.
